Misconfiguration discovered in over a million non-compliant SSL certificates issued by Google, GoDaddy, Apple, and other certificate authorities.

Why GoDaddy, Google, & Apple Are Revoking 1,000,000+ SSL CertificatesA security researcher recently found a misconfiguration in the EJBCA CA tool that many CAs use to generate serial numbers. Many CAs were issuing SSL certificates that did not meet the minimum required security standards.

So far, the investigation has uncovered over a million non-compliant SSL certificates issued by Google, GoDaddy, Apple, and other certificate authorities. These certificates will all be revoked, meaning the website owners will need to re-issue and install a new SSL certificate on their website.

The good news is: Comodo SSL certificates are all 100% compliant and valid. If your website is secured by any of Comodo’s SSL certificates (ComodoSSL, SectigoSSL, PositiveSSL, EssentialSSL, InstantSSL, EnterpriseSSL, etc.) there’s nothing to worry about!

If you have a non-compliant SSL certificate (from GoDaddy or another CA) you need to immediately re-issue and replace that SSL certificate. (We might be biased, but we recommend that you replace it with a Comodo SSL certificate!)
