|Why GoDaddy, Google, & Apple Are Revoking 1,000,000+ SSL CertificatesA security researcher recently found a misconfiguration in the EJBCA CA tool that many CAs use to generate serial numbers. Many CAs were issuing SSL certificates that did not meet the minimum required security standards.|
So far, the investigation has uncovered over a million non-compliant SSL certificates issued by Google, GoDaddy, Apple, and other certificate authorities. These certificates will all be revoked, meaning the website owners will need to re-issue and install a new SSL certificate on their website.
The good news is: Comodo SSL certificates are all 100% compliant and valid. If your website is secured by any of Comodo’s SSL certificates (ComodoSSL, SectigoSSL, PositiveSSL, EssentialSSL, InstantSSL, EnterpriseSSL, etc.) there’s nothing to worry about!
If you have a non-compliant SSL certificate (from GoDaddy or another CA) you need to immediately re-issue and replace that SSL certificate. (We might be biased, but we recommend that you replace it with a Comodo SSL certificate!)
